PENELOPEFLY - WHIRLABOUT - BLUEWAVE22
Each of us had successful careers in our past lives (before kids). Now, as our children grow, we’re determined to re-enter the workforce on our own terms.
Come on ladies, join our journey. And break out of your cocoon, girlfriend!
PENELOPEFLY
larva: children’s rights advocate - pupa: mom of 2 girls - flight: writer, literary fiction
Getting a late start to motherhood, my husband and I adopted two girls from China- our eldest arriving just after my 36th birthday. Before I held my daughter for the first time, I was a committed type-A personality and a leader of a national child advocacy organization. I traveled around the state (and sometimes the nation), lobbied politicians, and organized communities. The rest of her story…

WHIRLABOUT
larva: TV news reporter – pupa: mom of 2 boys – flight: voiceover artist
Mother of two boys (ages three and five) and wife to a loving husband of 10 years. That’s me, and that is my life right now. Pretty much all my energy goes into raising those two beautiful boys into loving, confident, considerate, happy individuals. It’s the best job I’ve ever had. Exhausting, yes, but more fulfilling than any paid position. The rest of her story…

BLUEWAVE22
larva: film and video designer – pupa: mom of 1 boy / 1 girl – flight: possibilities are endless
When I think about what defines me, my first thought is, “mother of two great kids.” But that’s not all that defines me. I have had a successful career as a film and video designer. In a small market, that means everything from set design and props, to costumes, to animation and editing, to makeup. I thoroughly enjoyed my work, BUT I had actually set out to be a journalist, or a lawyer, or a producer at Children’s Television Workshop, or a political staffer, or a spy. The rest of her story…

My dream is to have a rescue farm that provides therapy for emotionally distressed kids. Teaching kindness, patience and confidence. The way you described the journy of finding the path is so true.

Jill,
Thanks for your comment. It sounds like you have a heart for both people and animals, and your dream brings the two together. There certainly is a need for those services. I am hoping that in my big picture plan I can work with others who provide Equine Facilitated Learning (EFL) or Equine Facilitated Psychotherapy (EFP). You may already be familiar with this resource, but if not, you can get some information from EFMHA (Equine Facilitated Mental Health Association), which is a section of NARHA (North American Riding for the Handicapped Association). Their site is http://www.narha.org. Another resource is the Delta Society, who focus on service and therapy animals. Their site is http://www.deltasociety.org. Both of these sites can tell you about training workshop opportunities, that may ultimately help you find your path. Best wishes to you! nickerbean
